Pacific Media Associates Sees Big Potential for Instant Theater; Bellwether Models Already Showing Meaningful Impact

Menlo Park, CA (PRWEB) April 24, 2006

Pacific Media Associates (PMA), the global market information experts on large-screen displays, predicts rapid growth for “instant theater” front projector products over the next four years. These models have an all-in-one design that incorporates a projector, DVD player, and sound system, making them quick and easy to set up and use.

“Instant theaters are a perfect example of the out-of-the-box thinking required for success in the New Era of the front projection market,” according to Michael Abramson, PMA Vice President for Front Projectors. “Their innovative and attractive industrial design gives them a broad appeal, from home entertainment to classroom applications.”

PMA predicts that sales in this segment will accelerate rapidly. Rising from 44,063 units in 2005, sales are expected to reach 258,320 units for 2006, and increase to more than 1.2 million units for 2010. With annual sales forecast to exceed $ 842 million by 2010, this is a market segment that is sure to attract much attention from consumers, retailers, and manufacturers.

Epson, Optoma, and Radio Shack have current models that already are contributing a meaningful portion to sales of consumer front projectors. 3M and Toshiba have also announced models. Here is what some of the manufacturers are saying about their products and the market for instant theater projectors.

“The Projector/DVD combo product category is in its infancy stage of mass-market penetration, but the rapid rate of acceptance seen so far in the U.S. strongly indicates that sales for these products will grow significantly over the next few years,” said Fabia Ochoa, group product manager of home entertainment with Epson America. “While traditional front projectors for homes typically end up in fixed or permanent location (such as a ceiling installation), combo projectors such as Epson MovieMate 25 offer a unique advantage in the form of portability. Their integrated DVD players and sound systems give users the convenience and flexibility to simply transport an entire movie theater system to other rooms, without any cabling inconvenience. Overwhelmingly positive and consistent feedback from our customers tells us that the Epson MovieMate 25 has quickly become an enjoyable and integral part of their households.”

According to Jon Grodem, Sr. Product Manager at Optoma Technology. “MovieTime is doing well because it was designed from the ground up to serve the needs demanded by the instant theater concept, from the built-in DVD player and speakers. But we have also found that an all-in-one projector such as MovieTime is also ideal for teachers. It’s lightweight and portable, and easy to set-up. Along with the built-in features, the unit is easy for teachers to carry from classroom to classroom.”

“RadioShack is almost a whole channel by itself”, said Sara Bell, who is the Brand Manager responsible for their Cinego model. “While we have many stores in major metropolitan areas, we are also known for being in smaller towns throughout the country, many of which may never be served by the big box consumer electronics retailers. RadioShack is famous for its knowledgeable sales associates who will help identify a customer’s needs and find the best solutions for them. Many of our customers may have never been exposed to a home theater projector before and may be moving up from a 15-year-old 20-inch color TV. We can help educate them as to why a home theater projector can enrich their home entertainment experience.”

“As the No. 1 projector brand in retail and a leader in developing ‘crossover’ products that serve both professional and home entertainment needs, Toshiba believes the new ‘instant theater’ projectors will be a huge growth opportunity,” according to Sam Malik, Director of Marketing, Toshiba Digital Product Division, Projector Business Unit. “These extreme short-throw projectors are perfect for home users and apartment dwellers who don’t have the space for big-screen TVs or who simply want a less intrusive product. We believe the optimum product for this market should have a throw distance of just three feet covering a 100-inch diagonal area. It should also be feature-rich, incorporating true theater surround-sound technology and speakers, an HDMI input for high-definition programming, and the no-compromise Realta HQV™ processor (Hollywood Quality Video) from Silicon Optix for outstanding image quality.”

3M Endorses Education Programs with In-Kind Gift of $720,000

3M Endorses Education Programs with In-Kind Gift of $ 720,000

Dearborn, MI (Vocus) August 3, 2009

Quality equipment is essential to a quality education. 3M’s in-kind gift of 250 Super Close Projection Systems 700 Series, valued at about $ 720,000, which includes projectors, speakers and wall-mounts, has been donated to the SME Education Foundation for distribution to the network of middle and high schools across the country offering Project Lead the Way (PLTW) ® curriculum.

“Our gift reflects 3M’s mission to invest in teachers — giving them opportunities to introduce new ways of learning into the classroom to make math and science relevant and engaging for students — and Project Lead The Way® curriculum does that,” says Barbara Kaufmann, manager, Education Giving, and director, 3M Foundation. “We’re pleased to provide equipment that will complement the skills of instructors and enhance the learning experience of students.” Kaufmann is responsible for the strategy and implementation of 3M’s support to education targeting math, science and economics/business education from elementary through Graduate school.

All Project Lead The Way® high school and middle school engineering courses have several underlying content areas in common. As students progress through the sequence they work toward becoming proficient in: Working as a contributing member of a team; leading a team; using appropriate written and/or visual mediums to communicate with a wide variety of audiences; public speaking; listening to the needs and ideas of others; understanding the potential impact their ideas and products may have on society; thinking; problem solving; managing time, resources and projects; researching; going beyond the classroom for answers; data collection and analysis, and preparing for two- and four-year college engineering and engineering technology programs.

In an effort to recruit students into the PLTW® engineering coursework, the SME Education Foundation offers the Gateway Academy, a summer camp which allows students to work together in a fun and exciting environment. Students brainstorm ideas, solve problems and learn the basics of engineering concepts involving alternative energy, eco-design, robotics, manufacturing and aerodynamics, all in a hands-on, project-based environment.

“3M and our Foundation share the same goals,” says Bart Aslin, director, SME Education Foundation. “We cannot afford to shortchange the quality of education being offered – at any level. The generosity of 3M exceeded our expectations and we’re pleased to have their endorsement.”

“In PLTW classrooms across the country we are seeing a diverse group of young students excelling in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) classes because they are engaged in the curriculum,” says John Lock, CEO of Project Lead the Way®. “PLTW students are 10 times more likely than their college-going peers to pursue STEM-related degrees. Generous philanthropic donations such as 3M’s are critical in our efforts to provide our teachers with the tools they need to keep students engaged and excited about learning, creating and innovating. We are grateful for this donation and are proud to call 3M and the SME Education Foundation our partners in creating America’s next Innovation Generation.”

MyProjectorLamps.com: Providing Projector Lamps Online for Two Years

MyProjectorLamps.com: Providing Projector Lamps Online for Two Years

Henderson, NV (PRWEB) March 2, 2007

Projector lamps and naturally the front DLP and LCD projectors they power are found everywhere these days; in board rooms and churches, in stadiums and basements, and all places in between. As one of the premier online retailers of projector lamps, MyProjectorLamps.com (MPL) recently celebrated two years of supplying quality projector lamps and highly-knowledgeable customer service to clients all over the United States, Europe and the rest of the world.

MyProjectorLamps.com is a pioneer in the projector lamp industry. The company was the first to offer customers the option of purchasing the bare projector lamp or the projector lamp pre-installed in the plastic module, as has traditionally been the case. As a result of MPL’s innovative business model, the company was able to bring the price of most their projector lamps below $ 300.00 USD. Since the first quarter of 2005 a lot has changed in the retail projector lamp world, most importantly for the customer, prices have generally fallen. Two years ago MyProjectorLamps.com had the lowest prices on the internet by far, oftentimes beating the competition by a hundred dollars or more. Today, customers expect projector lamps to be priced below $ 300 and have a lot of choices within that price range. Market conditions may have changed because of MPL’s business model, but the company continues to be a trailblazer in the online projector lamp industry.

As an example of MPL’s trailblazing vision, the website is the only projector lamp retailer online that will beat any advertised price. MyProjectorLamps.com is also one of the only websites that focuses strictly on projector lamps and as a result has the most informed customer service representatives in the industry. On any given day a customer can call 1-888-785-2677 and talk about ANSI lumens, ignition voltage, wattage, lamp life hours, projector lamp technology, compatibility or even troubleshooting tips with any of the well trained staff.

The combination of well informed customer service and innovative business practices has served MyProjectorLamps.com well. The company has ballooned over the past two years and has sold over 13,000 projector lamps in 23 months making it one of the great online retail success stories of the past two years.

Company Vice-President Pavan Singh:

“We started out in a 900 sq/ft condo, so obviously we are extremely pleased with the growth MPL has experienced over the past two years. We have a lot of great marketing initiatives underway and we look forward to dramatically increasing sales again in 2007.”

MyProjectorLamps.com sells projector lamps for over 2050 front LCD and DLP projectors, including but not limited to brands such as; 3M, Boxlight, Canon, Eiki, Epson, Hitachi, Infocus, Mitsubishi, Philips, Proxima, Sanyo, Sharp, Sony, Toshiba and Viewsonic.

MyProjectorLamps.com is privately funded Canadian company with offices in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and Henderson, NV, USA. The company is owned by Photographic Earth Pictures, Ltd. (Canada).
